06 MAR 2000 - Tonia Skinner Hannemann - tnotto@earthlink.net I have an ancestor:
NATHANIEL MOTT born 4/1/1735, location and parents unknown. He died in Chatham, CT on 6/1/1808. He was survived by his wife Agnes Mott and their daughter Sarah Mott. Agnes moved away with her daughter and is not buried in Chatham. Is there anyway to find out who Nathaniel's parents were...or anything else about him?
Sarah is my 3rd great grandmother who married Ezekiel skinner. I have a story about how she and Ezekiel met. The story begins at a cottage near a lake, which must be your large lake. I also have a Xerox photo of a portrait of Sarah when she was middle aged.
I just don't know anything about her family except all siblings died of some disease when she was a young girl in early 1800's.

My ancestor, MOSES WEST, has been a dead end for me. I don't know where he was born nor who his parents were. I know he was married to Mary Rainney (sp) in Chatham, CT 4 June 1771. He served in the Revolutionary War as a Private. In about 1789 they moved to Washington County, NY, to the town of White Creek (which was called Cambridge?) He died 10 March 1801. I have a copy of his will and his widow's application for a pension as the wife of a Revolutionary War soldier.

I'm looking for ELIHU MOTT who I believe was born in Chatham in 1795/1796. The 1800 census would list Motts and if there was a male child under 5, I could assume it was Elihu and I would then have his father and eventually his mother and the Mott line going backwards..
Also an ELISHA NILES keeps cropping up. It appears he is responsible for a diary but it appears to be some form of an official document. In his diary he records a number of diverse names which do not apppear to be relatives, and he continues to use the term "scholar." Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. Monte Mott
